Welcome to CHESTER!
The conference team have chosen Chester as the destination to host District 1180 Conference 2020. The Conference will take place at The Queen Hotel located in Chester City centre.
Walk through the entrance of the magnificent brick and stucco Italianate hotel and you’re following some extraordinary guests. Since opening in 1860 to serve first-class rail passengers, The Queen Hotel has entertained the likes of Charles Dickens, Cecil Rhodes and Lillie Langtry. It's also a hotel of many firsts. It's the original railway hotel, the first of its kind built to service the many rail travellers to the city. With no other blueprints upon which to base the hotels’ design, the architecture was unique. Many say the first skyscraper of its time, and students from across the world still visit just to marvel at its structure and design. This is the perfect location to relax and unwind after your conference.
Located opposite Chester railway station and just 500m from Chester bus station makes the hotel extremely accessible for all. Chester also has many famous and award winning attractions including Chester Zoo, one of the UK's largest zoos and known throughout the world for its conservation projects and endangered wildlife. There is also the Storyhouse, a multi award-winning £37m theatre, library, restaurant and cinema based in the city centre. Maybe you would like to try something a bit more relaxing like Chester Boat & Sightseeing River Cruises, taking in the city's rich Roman, medieval and industrial heritage, or sit back and relax on the Iron Bridge Cruise, a two-hour trip into the glorious Cheshire countryside, through the Duke of Westminster’s Estate. As you can see Chester has lots to offer and this is why it has been chosen as the 2020 conference location.
